To be fair, I've only seen two of his movies.
Every man in this movie sexually harasses the female lead.
Nearly every character is deeply unlikeable.
The pacing is really off.
I incorrectly thought the movie was ending at least four separate times.
There wasn't really a plot, and none of the characters had strong motivations for anything they did.
Except the men, who all felt strongly motivated to sexually harass the female lead.
I don't remember much of this movie.
I do remember alternating between boredom, confusion, and disgust.
Why did everyone want to sleep with the lead?
So much sex.
I guess the book had a lot of sex too, but it just seems worse on screen than on the page.
The overall representation of women is pretty atrocious in this film.
I should give each movie a rewatch for a fair assessment, but I don't want to subject myself to either film again.
If these movies are a reflection of Paul Thomas Anderson in any way, then I would not like to meet him.
The overall depiction of women in these two movies is reprehensible.
I was too distracted by this to appreciate his technical skills, but I don't see him as the next Orson Welles.
I will watch these Paul Thomas Anderson movies next.
"I drink your milkshake. I drink it up!"
"I've abandoned my child! I've abandoned my boy!"
I like Joaquin Pheonix.
I also like Amy Adams.
